YouTube Safety Setup for Smart TVs

TVs are shared devices with unique YouTube control challenges. Here's how to set them up safely.

The smart TV challenge

Smart TVs are trickier than phones because:

  • Multiple family members share the same TV

Setup for younger children (YouTube Kids on TV)

  1. Install the YouTube Kids app on your smart TV
  2. Sign in and select your child's profile

Setup for older children (supervised YouTube)

  1. Sign into the TV's YouTube app with your child's supervised Google account

  4. Enable the profile lock (Settings > Restricted Mode > lock to prevent changes)
